Do I need a PIN code to pair my Pod?

No. There is no way to directly pair your Pod via Bluetooth, so you don't need (and can't use) a PIN code.

The only way to sync points from the Pod to a mobile device is by use of the Sqord mobile app. 

Your mobile device cannot directly use the data coming from the Pod, communicate it to the Sqord web service, or display your activity points on its own. 

To do all of that work (and more), your mobile device relies on the Sqord mobile app, in the same way that other complex processes (such as email, texting, etc.) rely on their own specific apps.
